I LOVE TeamStudio configurator – always have, probably always will
For some reason though (probably permissions or firewall related) I am unable to do the installation via Drag and drop from the website. I drag and drop it – and nothing happens…
So I figured out a work around and here’s how I did it – might not work for everyone but it might. This also provides an interesting insight into the process and how everything is interwoven in this process.
Right clicking on the Configurator icon and copying the link address gives me this
http://ftp.teamstudio.com/Edition29/en/update/widgets/extension_configurator.xml
Looking at the file I find the ftp root for the 29 update
http://ftp.teamstudio.com/Edition29/en/update
Going there I found the site.xml and that is the one I was looking for
http://ftp.teamstudio.com/Edition29/en/update/site.xml
In the Notes Client
Tools—>Widgets—>Getting Started with Widgets

Select Features and Plugins and hit Next

Enter the site.xml URL and hit Load

Select Configurator and hit Next – You will see it start to download

Once it is complete

Next

Next

Finish

Restart and we’re done
I am assuming it is the same steps for any of the other products which appear in the site listing but I have not yet tried them.

I’m sorry you had to jump through so many hoops to install Configurator. Although it was never our intention, the widgets can indeed be difficult to install and have caused frustration for some of our customers. You have come up with a great workaround, here – one that we had not been aware of! Thanks for the post, and for sharing your ideas with the community.
My pleasure mate 🙂
This one will go on top of my bookmark list as I’m sure I’ll have forgotten this once the next update comes around. Thanks a ton!
Well you know the main reason I wrote it down was so that I didn’t forget 😉
I am glad it helped someone else as well 🙂
Dear Team,
i had used performed site.xml url in lotus 8.5.1. I am getting the below error. Kindly help.
Unable to open connection to: http://ftp.teamstudio.com/Edition29/en/update/site.xml
I guess they moved it then – I would contact TeamStudio directly and ask them.
Dear Mark,
Kindly help me. I tried the other way also by downloading localinstaller.zip and then configuring but it is asking product key and activation code.
Please help its very urgent.
It is not a free product. It you have a valid license you will need to contact Teamstudio. If you don’t have a license you will need to contact Teamstudio.
[…] developers use on a daily basis worldwide. I know I have sung the praises of Teamstudio products before and have been instrumental in bringing them to the new companies I work […]
Right here is the right webpage for everyone who wants to understand this topic.
You understand so much its almost tough to argue with
you (not that I actually would want to…HaHa).
You definitely put a fresh spin on a subject which has been
discussed for decades.Wonderful stuff, just excellent!
FYI the links in the article are out of date as our DNS has changed (was always using http even though there was ftp in the url) and the link changes with each release.
The current site.xml file the latest release (E30.1) is found at http://download.teamstudio.com/Edition30.1/en/update/site.xml
Of course as new releases come out the Edition30.1 part will need to be changed accordingly.
Thanks for posting this Mark, I point customers towards it when all else fails with the widgets.
Cheers
Teamstudio
Thanks Grant – I will put a note in the post 🙂
